Canadian citizens and permanent residents may be eligible to sponsor their parents and grandparents to Canada.

1. Parent and Grandparents Sponsorship (PGP)

The first step to sponsor parents and grandparents is to fill interest to sponsor form.

In 2020 Canadian Immigration opened this form in October and closed the form in November, they accepted 20,000 applications under this program and invitations were sent to randomly selected applicants to apply for permanent residence under this program.

In 2021, Canadian immigration goal is to invite 30,000 applicants from the remaining pool of potential sponsors.

Eligibility requirements 

• The sponsor must be at least 18 years old

• The sponsor must reside in Canada 

• The sponsor must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act

• The sponsor must meet the income requirements from past 3 years and provide proof of income.
